Niki’s works are created using mixed media on highest quality archival, museum quality 100% cotton paper. There are one or two recommendations we make when transporting or hanging your work.
1. NO MOISTURE
As the some of the inks used in creating these works are water-soluble, moisture of any kind will result in damage to the artwork. Ensure work is transported and stored in waterproof packaging and hung in an area not affected by moisture or steam (such as bathrooms and kitchens)
2. NO DIRECT SUNLIGHT
Your artwork has been UV sealed using the highest-grade universal fixative. Although fading is unlikely if the painting is protected by glass, direct sunlight may result in some loss of colour. We strongly recommend you do not place pictures where they will be in direct sunlight or under strong fluorescent lights, as these are known to cause the pigments in most watercolours to fade. Framing using conservation glass, glass with a layer of protective acrylic, or museum glass are recommended if the picture is likely to be exposed to strong light.
3. DO NOT BEND OR ROLL
Your artwork is packaged and protected by stiff board to prevent it from bending or creasing in any way. Ensure that when you transport it, it is always protected from bending and NEVER try to roll it. Bending will leave permanent creases, or for the 640gsm paper, could result in breakage of the artwork. The paper itself can be ironed or pressed flat if it has been bent, but there is no guarantee that this will not affect the colours and finishes used and we DO NOT recommend trying this yourself. Should your work be bent or damaged, take it to an experienced framer, who will know how best to proceed or contact us and we’ll advise you.
