NIKI MCQUEEN ART
Dystopian worlds and fever dreams. A place for uncomfortable and discordant feelings, dark humour and fragile things. For loved and gone and lost and found.
LIFE BEYOND REASON ART
Where magic is real and the imagination is unfettered and wild. Where fish fly and elephants play soccer. A world where children (and adults) are free to play without fear, minds unleashed
NIKI MCQUEEN: A QUICK INTRODUCTION
“My artworks are manifestations of an urgent, unquenchable need for the expression of years of unspoken truths, unthought thoughts, unfelt feelings, unfulfilled longings, losses, triumphs, lessons and personal evolution.”
~Niki McQueen
Niki McQueen is a visual artist from South Africa. Her richly-coloured, finely detailed and otherworldly artworks retail both locally and to global buyers and collectors. Available works from her portfolio of over 500, can be purchased as both original artworks and limited-edition Giclee prints, shipped globally.
Niki is recognized for her ongoing collaboration with US punk cabaret duo, The Dresden Dolls, which started with the creation of a collection of artworks for their 2023 reunion tour. She also collaborates with lead singer, bestselling author, human rights activist and TED speaker Amanda Palmer, and has worked with Nathan Monk, bestselling author and noted human rights activist. She has also placed in notable local competitions and group-exhibited both nationally and globally.
She has pioneered a technique in which artworks are created from digital composites which are painstakingly hand-printed and hand-drawn onto heavy archival papers and then washed, painted colored and finished, sealed, and varnished using a variety of materials, in 10 step process she has developed and perfected over several years.
Her work expresses powerful and emotive personal symbolism and worlds of magical realism, exploring realities beyond reason and the familiarity of everyday existence. Themes include anatomy, psychology, archetypal interplay, eroticism, mythology, innocence, joy, decay, and rebirth.
Her work is broadly divided into two portfolios: Niki McQueen Art – surreal and symbolic art, and Life Beyond Reason – whimsical, light-hearted pieces
