This is one of several characters I’ve made which were similar to freeform writing or drawing. It emerged from somewhere in my unconscious and demanded space. I have the beginnings of an understanding of it, but not the whole. The title essentially means ‘Fear’s Child’.
I now have a few of these characters or ‘Players’ as I see them. They seem to me to be like chess pieces on the board of my psyche, or as Shakespeare said:
“All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely Players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,”
I have realised that horses usually relate to fear and trauma in my work, after an AMA I hosted on Facebook, which threw up some unexpected and challenging questions that had me in deep reflection.
