This is one of those pieces I still have to figure out, if I can. Sometimes I know or understand where the pictures come from, and what they are about, and at others they seep out of the unconscious onto the page without me having much say. This is one of those. I just had an inkling of a name as the figure materialised.
Art is sheer madness at times...when it relentlessly calls to be made and manifested, and that pull, pushes everything else to the side until it's resolved. I've spoken to other artists who experience the same thing. Is it healthy? I often wonder.
This will be my last work for 2023, and probably for some time. - Niki McQueen
