You may have seen on the socials or Patreon, that I had some pretty devastating news on my return from the USA.

In 2022, I was diagnosed with SEL (Spinal Epidural Lipomatosis). Due to two co-morbid conditions, I am not able to access the most common treatments for this condition and was advised in November by my surgeon that surgery is my only option to avoid the total loss of the use of my legs. My medical insurance may cover a small portion of the $10 000 procedure, but the entire amount has to be paid upfront, something that I cannot manage.

I am very grateful to friends, who have set up a fundraiser to try and raise funds to cover these medical costs, which will allow me to walk again. Any funds that are covered by medical insurance after the fact, will be donated to a cause which I will choose in consultation with my art community. Due to these medical complications, I am afraid these emails may become more sparse. Art will need to take a back seat as I face these challenges, and I will be unikely to be able to make much work for some time to come. (That won't stop me trying!). I will try and put together some retrospectives in these newsletters if I have the resources.
